Teaching English in the USA is what we do! In the case of Champion Windows, a large national window & door manufacturer in the USA, we set up classes on-site in Denver, CO. All of our students are Spanish speakers who want to improve their English skills at work and in their daily life. Teaching them English is always rewarding and effective. The company offers our classes to all of their employees and their families. It’s a wonderful example of English language support from a large USA company and we hope that others will follow Champion’s lead!
We tailor the classes to meet the needs and interests of all of the students even though some are at different levels of English. It’s best to start our lessons with a few American English grammar and vocab goals that we want to accomplish during the lesson. Then we present them and act them out in front of the class. With the custom handouts the students start to grasp the new words. Then we get the students to practice & perform amongst themselves as we offer help and supervision. This is always successful and fun.
This is an example of our custom material, it’s an exercise using the Present Continuous both in present & future settings. We also tied it into the Easter Holiday – What are you doing for Easter? Where are you going? What are you going to do?
